ISIC - International Student Identity Card

Apply for a student card with ISIC

Where can I get an ISIC card?

Check below to find your nearest issuing point for ISIC cards and find out if you can order online. You can get the IYTC youth card and ITIC teacher card at the same places.

If your country is not on this list, unfortunately there is no issuing point for your ISIC card in your country. The good news is that if you are planning to travel or study abroad, you can contact the ISIC issuing point at your country of destination. You can then get your card when you arrive.

Who can apply for a student card?

If you are a full-time student at school, college or university, aged 12 or over, you can apply for a student card with ISIC. It's a hassle-free process, and in no time at all you'll be enjoying thousands of discounts and benefits at home and away.

Which documents do I need to get an ISIC card?

The ISIC card is only for full-time students, so you need to bring along to the issuing office:

  • A document that proves that you are currently studying full time at a recognised school, college or university. This could be one of the following documents:

            - A copy of your university or student card, which is dated and clearly indicates you are currently a full-time student, or
            - A signed and dated letter on official university or school stationery, which states you are a full-time student. We would prefer an original copy, but photocopies and faxes may be acceptable.

  • A recent passport-sized photo;
  • An official proof of your date of birth

... And you'll have your card in no time at all.

What is a full-time student?

The definition of full-time student depends on which country you're studying in. Check at your nearest ISIC issuing office and they'll tell you if you're eligible.

Full time usually means at least 16 hours of study a week, for a minimum of six months a year.

If you are full-time teacher or aged under 26, you can also enjoy similar benefits to the ISIC card with the International Youth Identity Card (IYTC card) or the International Teachers Identity Card (ITIC).

How long is the ISIC student card valid for?

The standard ISIC card is valid for 16 months, from the start of the academic year.

The start month depends on where you are studying. For example in Europe, USA and India, the card is valid from 1 September until 31 December of the following year.

If you are studying in Australia, South Africa or Argentina, your ISIC card will be valid from 1 December until 31 March, 16 months later.

Some ISIC cards also work as bank cards, with a validity of 12 months.

How much does an ISIC card cost?

The price of an ISIC card varies slightly in different countries. It's usually around the price of a cinema ticket. Please check with your local ISIC issuer for the cost of applying for a student card where you are.
