The grounds of Hillsborough Castle, official home of the UK's Northern Ireland Secretary, are the setting for Garden Show Ireland. Wander among designer show gardens, growers' pavilion and market, and enjoy cooking demonstrations, garden gurus, jazz and cream teas.

The Hillsborough Oyster Festival at The Plough Inn attracts around 15,000 visitors to the pretty Georgian village for a weekend of slippery shenanigans. As always, the main purpose of the festival is to raise money for charity.

Located in a pretty village, Hillsborough Forest Park comprises 197 hectares of woodland that once belonged to the Downshire demesne. Today waymarked trails criss-cross the park through the woodland areas that circle a large pretty lake.
