The Museo Larco is located in the neighborhood of Pueblo Libre, in an impressive 18th century colonial mansion built on a 7th century pyramid. It was created in 1926 by the famous Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle to share his passion for archeology and pre-Columbian civilizations. It has recently been renovated and shows a remarkable collection of pre-Columbian art, including crowns, earrings, nose ornaments, garments, masks and vases, and finely crafted gold jewelry and decorated with semiprecious stones. In the erotic gallery you will be intrigued by all the metal jars and the ceramic pots that show, in a very realistic and humorous way, their sexual habits. The Larco Museum is also one of the few museums in the world that allows tourists to enter the storage area. In total, there are more than 45,000 pieces to enjoy, making Museo Larco an unforgettable and unique experience.
