Since it's foundation in 1940, the National Philharmonic”Serghei Lunchevici” has grown to become the most important concert organization in the Republic of Moldova, developing a wide range of music activities, from classical and jazz to folk and popular music. A number of most celebrated artistic groups and remarkable representatives of the Moldovan music culture, among which „Joc”, „Fluieraş”, „Lăutarii”, Timofei Gurtovoi, Veronica Garştea, Boris Miliutin, Dumitru Goia, Ghita Strahilevici, Serghei Lunchevici, Vladimir Curbet, Victor Copacinschi, Nicolae Botgros, Nicolae Sulac, Tamara Ciobanu, Zinaida Julea, have started their career at the National Philharmonic. Foremost pop music bands and singers, such a “Noroc”, “Plai”, Ion Suruceanu, Iurie Sadovnic, Nadejda Cepraga, Mihai Dolgan, Maria Codreanu, just to name a few, have enriched the history of the Philharmonic. The core and pride of the Philharmonic are its worldwide known artistic groups – The Symphony Orchestra and the Chapel Choir “Doina”, both founded in 1930. Two other groups, the folk music orchestra “Folclor” and the “Millenium” band, have joined the Philharmonic in 2006 and 2012.
