Empowering Students

Empowering students is an important part of the ISIC mission. Beyond providing access to student benefits and services, the ISIC network can support initiatives that give students a stronger voice, improve access and inclusion, and contribute to more meaningful student experiences.

Across the ISIC network, organizations are working in different ways to support and empower students, reflecting the needs and priorities of their local communities. The Federation of Estonian Student Unions (FESU) and the National Union of Students (NUS) in the UK are featured in this video, sharing how they are putting this commitment into practice.

In Estonia, the ISIC model supports student advocacy and policy work, while in the UK, the focus is on access, inclusion and participation in student life. Their approaches are different, but both demonstrate how ISIC partners can use their position, expertise, and local connections to support students beyond the card itself.

The work happening across our network shows the many ways ISIC partners can contribute to student empowerment, while responding to the specific needs of students in their markets. We hope these stories encourage further collaboration, exchange of ideas and new initiatives that can create meaningful impact for students.
